"I have had experience with Tony Navarro and Visions Roofing. I do a pretty large amount of roofing projects as an insurance claims specialist and I have been working with Tony for about 2 years. First and foremost I cannot say enough about the Gaco products. They are the absolute highest quality products I have come across and I see every kind of roof failure that is out there. Being an insurance claims specialist we get some challenging roof failure projects and as a result we have a very high demand for reliable products. I deal primarily with Property management company’s and the large majority of my projects are large multifamily buildings as well as a fair amount of smaller 6-12 flat buildings as well. When Tony first introduced us to the Gaco line of products we were a bit skeptical only because the system is not the conventional or typical repair you see in the Chicago land area. After research and Tony delivering high quality knowledge and his company Visions Roofing personally backing the products and installation, I gave him a try. Let me tell you the largest factor for me, when a roof is completed I am a believer in the theory that when something just physically appears better it usually is in the construction world. The roofs, to an untrained eye, just look they are extremely effective when compared to a traditional Modified or TPO roof. The entire roof is void of any seams which means the likelihood of failure is reduced significantly because seams in roofing materials are the first place we see failures. Secondly, the silicone is extremely flexible/elastic where traditionally roofing compounds tend to dry hard and crack after a season and require ongoing maintenance. The Gaco product is not anything really fancy, it is just really effective and maintains elasticity with its life so it moves with the roof and climatic changes. The nature of the product in an overlay application which sounds like what you’re considering having done is excellent. It is cost effective and works great because again the silicone fills all the voids and dries flexible so it maintains its water tight integrity very naturally with little to no maintenance. The reason I say that this is not typical in Chicagoland area is because the reality as I see it is the roofing industry is very slow to change and especially in areas like Chicago where it is hard to get licensed. Many roofers get into a routine and comfortable with the products they use which creates complacency and less flexibility to change as more advanced products and methods are developed. Gaco is not new to these products so they are time tested but they are new to the Chicagoland market in the last few years and they are doing really well. I think the largest factor in this product is the application is just less expensive and it works, this means the traditional roofing company’s make less money and from my perspective is the only reason I can find that roofers don’t promote newer less expensive and more effective products. This also means that Roofers don’t get as many service and maintenance calls either so products like this are very slow to fully come to the market quickly. I could go on and on and if you other more specific questions please feel free to call me. 2 final very important points. I deal with many of the big roofing product manufacturers and I can tell you when their products fail they are very hard to work with and even get a response from. Gaco stands behind Tony and Visions and while I have never had a failure with one of their products, I have met and received follow ups from their local reps just to see if we are happy with the product, this has never happened with a Firestone or GAF product and that gives me tremendous comfort in knowing that they are there to serve our needs."
